Genre: Progressive Metal
Ontologus is a bunch of serious musicians who don’t take themselves seriously- these guys don’t dress kvlt or attack any music that isn’t ‘heavy enough’, instead they just play whatever comes to mind. It’s why Ontologus’ music sounds anything ranging from Oceansize right through Death.
Formed in early 2009, most of the band’s work is written and arranged by formative members and guitarists Arvind and Yashaswi who have been influenced by too many artistes to cite any specific influences! While the anal-critic will peg Ontologus’ music under the ambiguous and vague genre that is ‘extreme progressive metal’- (forgive this writer for reiteration) the tightly intermeshed layers of Ontologus’ sonic riffery betray their love for any sound that appeals to them- clean or distorted, melancholy or upbeat, Martyr or LeaAnn Rimes (the bassist just loves her!). Ontologus has supported bands such as Lacuna Coil, De Profundis, Cypher 16 and Kryptos. They’ve played quite a few local gigs including the prestigious Whiplash fest held at BMSCE and plan on releasing an EP in the near future.
Ontologus were previously known as Requiem.
